I certainly am keeping the TV and radio OFF. I'm not visiting any news media sites today either - not even local ones - for fear that I might see some reference to the hoopla and falderal.
I saw enough the other day when one of the major network news dudes did quite a spin about the numbers of persons whoi might be expected in DC today. He said that the first term is always about hope and the second about reality. What a farce. If our media actually worried or cared about reality, they'd call every liberal on every lie they make. But, alas, our media is and has been biased for years.
In our local newspaper the other day, they were speaking with folks who had been to the last inauguration. One church sent 9 buses last time. They sent none this time. But the same article had someone else claiming that they were carrying on for the area and taking 9 of their own buses to make up for that church not going. But there was a difference. The last time those 9 buses were real buses, you know, the kind that have about 50 seats in them. The folks going from this area this time are taking 9 15-passenger vans, not buses. So, big difference.
Anyway...it's great not having the TV on. Instead, I've been listening to some of Grandma's favorite hymns, as well as some patriotic songs. I might even listen to some oldies. If I have to sit in front of the TV, I'll check to see which videos I haven't seen yet.
What are you doing instead of drooling over Obama?

I've loved some of the HGTV stuff I've seen lately.
Yes, I would love to see a journalist refuse to cover Obama. I was watching Fox News this morning and some guy brought the three on the Kirby coach some "stuff" from the inauguration. All of it with Obama's photo and everything Obama. All three sat there and smiled and the blond in the center giggles in approval. I would have said thank you but no thank you!
Thankfully, the local news folks have been concentrating on our local news and not Obama.
I thought the bibles he chose to use was shameful. A wolf in sheeps clothing.
Encore Western channel, didnt show a single worrd of it - I was safe!
Plus I enjoyed, Lawman, Have Gun Will Travel, Wyatt Earp, Bonanza, and Matt Dillon!
I did the dishes while I listened. Then I pulled a bunch of bull thistles before they could get higher than an inch. I hope I got them all. Then I pruned the two grape vines I have, which I haven't done in years. I probably did it all wrong, but they were totally running wild with branches crossing each other and lying on the ground. I couldn't have made it worse than it was, and I wanted to make it a bit harder for the ground squirrels and gophers to eat the grapes. I also pulled some coyote brush plants hiding in the grape vine.
Even though it's MLK Day, I was singing a Christmas carol as i worked:
No more let sin and sorrow reign, nor thorns, infest the ground.
He comes to make his blessings flow far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found, far as the curse is found.
Can you identify the carol from just those words?
They seemed to fit what I was doing. Come to think of it, it also fits how I feel about what happened in D.C. today.
...pathetic.
