In the newspaper this morning, some idiot argued that we all need assault rifles in case the USA gets invaded. watched Red Dawn too man times, apparently. we spend more more on our military than the rest if the world combined, and you think someone else could invade us? who, the Canadians? We have the world's most powerful navy. really, you are going to stage an amphibious assault against the USA?

at a certain point paranoia just becomes comical.

Chris, this issue is about the same thing that EVERY political and social issue in this country is about: MONEY. The NRA is in BUSINESS to shepherd legislation through that assures that gun manufacturers (from handguns to shoulder-launched rockets) make money. Money from selling whatever kind of weapons to any country that will pay. It is the epitome of the military industrial complex.
