Real history shows that civilizations that served the welfare of all the classes flourished for centuries and had few wars. The great civilizations of the past , as China's, India's and so on had such enlightened periods. Their arts, sciences, institutions and technologies were superior to those contemporary civilization in significant ways. Humanity has declined in intelligence and wisdom for several thousand years. The last complete, enlightened civilization was the synthetic Islamic, which declined after 11th century. It had periods of high culture and few wars compared to civilizations since.
The experiment in democracy begun in America that Thomas Paine's Common Sense contributed to has so far not achieved its potential . With the rise of the East and decline of the West and the need for a global civilization -- that is based on wisdom and justice - we all face the same challenge and share the same aim.
