Sounds more like the opening salvo of Rand Paul's 2016 Presidential bid, a play for attention.
But legislation is useless when the Senate and President are of the same party and you are trying to limit the President.
If the President is within his Constitutional authority, the law would be useless anyway.
Having ruled it contains a tax, the Court could not take up an issue that remains (because it was not argued) -- all tax bills MUST originate in the HOUSE. But the Obamacare act originated in the SENATE with Harry Reid.
The case is coming up through the system with the argument that because it was not adopted via Constitutional means, it is not law.
Adolf Hitler didn't seize power in Germany; he was given power by democratic process, and then he established his dictatorship.
Romans 1:27-29
I read a lot of material whose source I don't necessarily agree with, in order to expand my understanding of the world around me. I learn a lot abou different perspectives. Consider, for example, your wide variety of posts.
> I sincerely hope you haven't already been given over to a
> reprobate mind?
See the above answer. I'm sure you'd be happy to judge. You do a lot of that.
Agreed, darling. Quite aware of that. So glad it's not yours!
> if we've genuinely accepted Jesus Christ's... personal Lord and Savior of our own lives...
Strangely, you've made the same comment before, and every time I assure you that I have: and that I know Him in a deeply personal way. Funny how you keep doubting me in that regard. Or should I say judging?
> we don't have the option to not necessarily agree with His Word either...
And I have never, ever failed to agree with His Word, my dear girl. Perhaps you forget that I'm a graduate of Moody Bible Institute? I've taken classes in Bible, theology and New Testament Greek from some of the best scholars in your country. To this day I spend hours a week in quiet time and study. I've probably forgotten more real theology in the last twenty years than you've ever known.
>As for judging... if indeed that's something you think I do a lot of
My opinion doesn't matter, as you've said. Look at the testimony of your writing: as above. I don't remember seeing "guns" anywhere in the Bible... nor even any kind of right to self-defense. If anything, Matthew 5:39 says, "but whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also". The words that you write, the evil spout and the conflict that you coax from others will will be your testimony at the last judgement.
> Who alone has the authority to pronounce it?
And it sure ain't you, dear: no matter how much you dress your words, they remain thick with hate. As above, they competely fail when it comes to "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, [and] self-control". Those are what I care about.
I know how you feel, though: I actually dropped out of Gather from October to January because I didn't want to deal with the anger and the hatred of so many of the posts during election time. But I couldn't let her (or her kind) win when it came to something I love as much as writing. (I mean, she does little more than copy, paste and click publish: often hardly even producing a coherent argument.) So I try to balance between posts that are much more positive, posts that expose the evil in the world... and an occasional read/comment on something Sandy's put in the "Broadcasting" group.
Fear not the "pile", but be brave and fight for the truth! :-)
