Bullied teen Baileigh Karam vanished a week ago, and a video of her being fought by a school classmate went viral online. It was disappointing that her story had only gained major attention over the last couple of days, sparking fears that she could be in danger or have harmed herself as a result of the bullying. However, it's very fortunate news to report that this young teen has been reunited with her loved ones safely.
Apparently she was located at around 10:00 a.m., Friday, which is excellent news. The Carlsbad Police released the statement to the media, and Patch.Com is reporting it here. She was reportedly healthy, safe and staying with friends over the course of her disappearance. Did she realize her story was getting national attention?
Her family must be relieved, and are absolutely lucky too. Disappearances of this nature don't often end on a positive note and when violent bullying is involved anything could happen. This is an era of anti-bullying campaigns and a teen suicide rate that appears to be growing by the way the incidents are reported in the media. Hopefully the school this young lady attends takes note of the seriousness of her bullying at this point and something positive is done about it.
