Despite the critics, and 1 Faux News pundit who viciously & stupidly called it "child abuse," President Obama made the choice during his speech on gun control yesterday, to include the voices of children, 8-year-old Grant Fritz of Maryland; 10-year-old Taejah Goode of Georgia; 11-year-old Julia Stokes of Washington D.C.; and 8-year-old Hinna Zeejah. It's apparent from the photo below, that these kids' parents also backed the President. And, as apparent, from one child's letter below, "NO GUNS, NO GUNS, NO GUNS!" That was from the 8 y/o, & I find it totally baffling that a child this young gets the message, and adults 5x her age don't!
Just as mind-boggling is the proliferation of ugly rhetoric, veiled threats, offensive ads (that NRA 1 is a kicker!), inane references to the 2nd Amendment, misplaced agendas, but most importantly, the failure of lawmakers (on both sides) to pass safer gun restrictions because they're more worried about re-election in 2014, too cowardly to stand up to do what's morally & ethically right for our country~SHAME on them & shame on the idiot Republican who spent over $600 for a friggin' water faucet!

In any event, what a terric experience for thes kids~it's not every day you get a hug from the Prez! Link below for the other kids' letters...

They both used children to try to get their point across...But you think that only one of them is wrong?
Am I assuming wrong?
Cats have four paws
Dogs have four paws
Therefore, dogs are cats...
The president of this country is only one person at one time, and unfortunately, his family has to be part of the game also. So far this president's life has been threatened several times, and if I am not mistaken his wife's also.
Besides, Obama is not the first president to have Secret Service with armed guards around him... All US presidents have armed guards around them.
In case you forgot, a few presidents of this country lost their lives in office because of idiots with guns...
If you want armed guards in school, maybe you should have your own school, that you support from your own money and feel safe in them.
I wonder why isn't the NRA supporting the idea of citizens having stinger missiles, armored personnel carriers, and even light canons in the house? After all they would be the proper way to defend against the government.
Cats are smart animals. It is too bad, yours chose such an unfit companion, ornamental maybe, but smart not!!!
The difference being, Sir Dan, is that the Prez, by the mere fact that the children's parents were standing right behind them, had permission to have them on stage with him. I think we can safely "assume" that Obama did not give the NRA permission to "use" his kids.
Just 4? All children have more courage than our lawmakers... And they have more wisdom too. Children have a low life experience, so they are the best reflection of the human nature. Life experience is nothing more than perversion in understanding the self-preservation instinct, which is not a noble one...
People say a lot of things about Obama, and a lot of Americans thinks that he is not smart.
I think that this move, implying children in this serious matter is a real genial move. Lately, the other side has used children in the ideological fight and every time it back fired they cried foul from the top of their lungs...
What I found very interesting was the arguments they used to strike back at the critics,. Frankly I think that they used children as sacrificed lambs. They used them as political shields.
I don't belive a ten years old, or a fourteen years old is capable to understand the meaning of Free Market, Capitalism or Morality; I could not believe the words of those children, delivering them at political rallies. I think that children are smart, but I don't think that political concepts are easy to understand by children.
On the other hand, these days, I think that children really understand what "no guns mean".
Children don't really have the understanding of the Second Amendment, or the First Amendment, or any amendment for the matter, but they understand very well what it means to be shut at and to see a preschooler or a first grader being shut in front of you, actually next to you. They can understand that they were lucky to survive. They will never forget the blood stains splattered on them from the little bodies of they friends who fell victims on the altar of human madness and human stupidity in stubbornly supporting a principle, which after all does not even means too much in the real world...
So, it is very risky for Obama to bring the real participants in the fight.
I am just curious to see the Right Wing raising the same hell they rose when they shamelessly brought the children in their political fight. I would like to see the Right Wing denigrating the victims of the horror, as a routine reaction in their ideological fight...
I am sure that we are going to see all sorts of comments on Gather in the next few days...
I am curious to see what form stupidity will take this time!
I disagree, and here's why: 'Tho there have been gun control issues in the past, what happened in Newtown with the loss of so many children signified that now is the time to act. Children may not have an understanding of the 2nd (or 1st) Amendment, gun control, the whole realm of politics. What they do understand is that 20 of their peers were slaughtered in their classrooms! Children are very much a part of the horrors of gun violence, & I think Obama's inclusion of them was totally appropriate.
Actually I used the same reasoning as you did to enforce the idea that this time children were first hand part of the horrors...
Of course it was early in the morning, and I might have sleep-write, my fingers typed while my brain was still sleeping...

Now the extreme element of the far right has taken over and is leading its followers to a current and future position of failures. They (conservatives) are wrong and have not learn the Art of compromise due to their irrational hatred of President Obama.
Where time is a valued quantity, the extreme right-wing is wasting so much time on their disliked of 2nd term President Obama.
I watched Gen. Powell's interview on MSNBC (forget the journalist) & he was quite scathing in his assessment of his Party's behavior & agenda, particularly with regard to minorities. I've been meaning to do a post about this~thanx for weighing in, Richard!
