I am going to pick Sean up from seminary today since he has a dentist appointment tomorrow. It is my first longer trip with the car since the alternator was fixed. Lord, please help it to be a smooth and uneventful trip. Help us to get this transportation issues figured out Lord. And, help Sean through his dental visit tomorrow, that she can do what ever needs to be done and Sean will be able to save his teeth in the long run.
Help all of us that are currently struggling to remember Proverbs 17:1 "Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife."
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations (Psalm 100:4-5).
With the bleeding woman of old we cry out:
Our blood is running out.
Our bones are weak, and our hearts falter.
O God, how can we endure such fragile bodies?
Some of us now, some of us later, will suffer disease.
Please be with those that are healing from surgeries. That can be a long road at times. Give them the strength they need for any physical therapy or the patience for bed rest.
I would like to lift up Jean as she is healing from surgery. Help her to heal quickly Lord as the Great Physician that you are.
I also lift up Christopher and Angela who are each facing medical issues of their own.
I also want to add Nancy to our list. Lord, You know best what she needs. Let her know that You are with her and that many are praying for her.
And I lift up Betty's Daughter Sarah once more. Lord, send them comfort for the outcome, whatever that may be. If it is time for you to take her home with you help the family heal from the loss.
Hear these words, and receive their power:
God the Father continues to create health and wholeness.
God the Son cured sick bodies and broken spirits.
God the Spirit grants us peace within our pain.
Thanks be to God
God of mercy, give Your strength to Linda's son, one of Your children, enfold him in Your love and restore him to the freedom of God's children.
I return to the Lord, my God,
For He is gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger, and of great kindness;
And He relents from doing harm
(based on Joel 2:13).
Lord, look with compassion on all those who have lost their health and freedom. Restore to them the assurance of Your unfailing mercy, strengthen them in the work of recovery, and help them to resist all temptation.
Lord, I would like to lift up all those in school. Help them to do well in their endeavors. Give their teachers' the tools needed to help their students succeed. I especially lift up my own two daughters and Nanette's son Joshua. Help him to get good grades and keep them up even as he joins the band. Let his music be in glory of You Lord.
Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture (Psalm 100:1-3).
Lord, be with Nanette throughout this year, and all of us Lord. Nanette seeks to have a book published this year and make enough to care for her family. So many of us our struggling financially this year and have been for a while. Remind us to give first fruits to You, work hard, and rely on You for all our needs.
With Job of old we cry out:
Everywhere the innocent suffer.
Our desires and efforts achieve us little.
O God, are you good, yet do nothing to help us?
Our answers have holes, and we fall through.
Hear these words, and receive their power:
The majesty of God the Father under-girds all that is.
The mercy of God the Son accepts our despair.
The comfort of God the Spirit embraces us in communities of care.
Now may the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing, that we may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
(based on Romans 15:13)
