A granny twist.

It does not take much to make a  granny with three sides, or six, or even five sides. Same process, just a few more stitches. Here is one in Christmas colors.

Fold this motif in half and stitch from the point to the flat side, and add a loop. Now you have a small stocking to use on a present or hang on a tree, or to give as a favor at a party.  Fill it with a little toy, some kind of candy, a lipgloss, some jewelry, or a gift card. Let your imagination run wild.

The color is not the greatest on these as I am inside and it is night. Even with the flash it did not do it justice. I edited and improved it in Picasa, but I do not know where the improved versions went.

I checked out a book that I loved so much I bought, it is called Crocheting in Plain English, by Maggie Righetti. Maybe you could look for it in your library.

we had granny square stocking when I was little. What ever happened to them I do not know. I am thinking they were probably eaten by moths.

Very cute little stocking! The original version could be used as a decorative pot holder during the holiday season.
