When American Idol Nicki Minaj visited with Ellen DeGeneres, the talk show queen couldn't help but question the diva about her famous feud with Mariah Carey. What did Nicki have to say?
She claims, in the beginning, she didn't believe rumors that Mimi didn't want to share the judge's panel with her. "I heard all this stuff that was being said," Nicki noted. "But I didn't believe it. ...I was like, 'No, I'm friends with Mariah.' I was...arguing people down," Minaj added. She told them not to believe everything they heard. However, after getting into the room with Mimi, Nicki admitted to that fact that some tension existed. It bothered her, so she started getting angry and a bit crazy too. "If you know someone maybe doesn't like you...now you're really going to go in...because it's a defense mechanism...Your feelings are hurt...so you kind of just compensate with being crazy."

Minaj went on to say that she looked up to Carey at one point. "Me and my mother would sing her songs like all day and all night," she revealed. "I cannot hold a grudge against Mariah Carey," she added. However, Nicki also admitted that she wasn't happily anticipating the live shows. That's because she can't trust herself, especially if Mimi goes off on her. She wants the focus to stay on the competition's contestants and not her and the other judges. She told Ellen that she really doesn't want to look like a crazy psycho again.
Maybe not, but Nicki Minaj did lose her cool more than once and that has a lot of the show's normal viewers wondering whether or not to tune in this year. Obviously some people will flip the channel on specifically to see all the craziness. However, a large faction of the audience wants the show to be about the singers and not the judges. They are the one's wondering if it's going to be worth the effort. That's bad news for American Idol which has lost a lot of ground in the last couple of years. Only time will tell if the Mariah/Nicki feud turns out to be a good thing or a deal breaker.
