I Never Thought I Would Say This But....

I never thought I would say this but I really need to have orders stop coming.  As many of you know I have an online business where I sell used books and DVD's.  It seems as if a lot of people must have gotten Amazon gift cards for Christmas and they now know you can use them on used items.  I am getting even more orders then I got at Christmas time. At this very moment I have 28 orders to package up and get out.  I know to a larger business this does not seem like a lot of orders, but to a one person business this is quite a bit.  The orders just seem to keep coming too.

I am thankful for the sales it is just going to take a lot of time to pull them all from the shelves and get them wrapped up and ready to send out.  I had to cancel my doctor's appointment today because I just don't have time to go.  I need to spend most of my day pulling the orders and getting them wrapped up.

So wish me luck I have a busy day ahead of me.

If you just want to sell some of your books you don't want any more to make some extra cash then sign up at Half.com. They only charge you a 15% fee once the book is sold there are no listing fees and no additional fees. Amazon charges fees and percentage. I don't recommend getting in to the book business these days as a full time business. I have been in it for 10 years and have 11,000 books in my garage. If I didn't have so much inventory I would probably get out of the business myself.

I sell through Amazon.com and Half.com. It is my business but I use their power to sell my books, that way I also don't have to set up my own site and all that. If you think you can sell more than 60 books per month you can sign up for an Amazon Marketplace monthly subscription. If you do this you will pay them $39.99 every month, plus %15 of your sales. Then you will not have to pay an additional fee on every sale, but if you don't sell more than 60 per month it is not worth it. If you want to make this a full fledged business you will have to go about the task of searching out your inventory. I go to thrift stores, garage sales, and library sales for mine. You also have to dedicate space in your home. I have a 2 car garage and one whole side is filled with books. It is a hard business to make money at these days and it is a business that might be gone before long due to Kindells and such. I have written a couple of different articles on the subject. I will ping them to you later, I am just too swamped at the moment.

If you want your own site, then you will likely need to purchase a domain, and hire a web developer to create the site for you. A web developer can also get the domain for you.

If you really want to do it though you will have to beef up your inventory first.

I don't know if it will be over at this rate. LOL, it seems every time I get a couple packaged and ready to go two more orders come in. The extra money will be nice though.
You'll get it done. :) I wish I would get that many ebay sales or orders for my ebook or my bookmarks or....

Most things I try to sell on line just go nowhere.

I have not ventured out more than selling books except for dance shoes and Halloween costumes. If you get them on ebay at the right time they will sell quickly but the timing as to be really good. My kids are all done dancing now so I won't be getting any more shoes to sell. I have one pair of ballet slippers left but I didn't get them on line at the right time so I am waiting until this next August.
