We started planning our winter Holiday back in April. We knew it would take time because we were working with a time share company and we wanted beach front. Our patience paid off. Two weeks in two different resort condos at a cost of $219 per week made it affordable and fun.
With our first week over in Marco Island and our second week starting in West Palm Beaches, we had to find someplace to stay for one night. We loved our place at Marco Island and asked about buying another night there and they wanted $325 , but alas there was no room - which was a good thing because we would not spend that for one night.
We chose Naples, it was nearby, it was famous for its seafood and beaches so we headed that way...

Many of the homes in Marco Island have water access and private docks.

The Panther signs were on the highway to Naples and on the highway called Alligator Alley to the East Coast.

Our first stop in Naples was the hotel to check in. The second stop was the Beach, when we got on the beach we saw the pier...

Downtown Naples from the pier.

The sidewalks near the beach and pier were decorated with turtles.

At lunchtime we looked for a restaurant called the Wharf Tavern. We saw an ad for it in the local paper and it sounded perfect for lunch. It was perfect, and we enjoyed the boats on the wharf too.

This water taxi went by us as we ate lunch

At happy hour we went to Tin City (a section of Naples), we went to a bar/restaurant called River Walk and they were BUSY! We wished we had a seat in the restaurant but not hungry we sat at the bar and had a beer - it was ugly, 1,000 F-words later from the local drunks and we were gone. The restaurant looked good - the bar, not so much.

At dinnertime we went downtown. The decoration were delightful and we ate at a wonderful Italian Restaurant called Cafe Luna.

We slept like babies and awoke to a beautiful sunrise. We headed out for Alligator Ally to get to the east coast to start our second week of vacation.

Stay tuned - there's more :)

I have a problem with sharing my photos on Gather. I uploaded a whole load of pictures last week. It went through, but I can't find the pictures. I didn't put them in an album. Where could theyhave disappeared to. I sent out a plea for help from Chuck McGuire and I also contacted Gather directly, no one answered. Is there anything wrong with Gather. They always answered before...thanks for helping me or trying to help me. marilynl
If they uploaded successfully another page pops up so you can write about the photo and add key words and then submit. If that didn't show up, your photos did not upload.
I've heard rumors that Gather was sold. I do not know that for a fact. Keep trying to reach someone - sometimes persistence pays.
