After having a few weeks off, I can't believe I forgot how exhausting work is. LOL. Today I have 3 games to ref and one team to coach. I know a lot of you find that amusing....even some of my family does.
So...what are we celebrating...
1). Peach Melba Day: Peach Melba (its original title was in French, Pêche Melba) was created in the summer of 1892 at the Savoy Hotel, London by the the great French chef Auguste Escoffier. It honored the renowned Australian soprano, Dame Nellie Melba (Escoffier also created Melba toast for her). The dish combined two summer fruits, peaches and raspberries, with vanilla ice cream. Escoffier poached the peach and topped it with ice cream and raspberry purée. Essentially, it’s an ice cream sundae with poached peaches, and I wouldn't mind having some today. I've never had peach melba...
2). Make Your Dream Come True Day: This holiday gives you the opportunity to do something to realize your goals and dreams. Whatever your dreams are, they usually don't come true without some effort on your part....so, today is the perfect opportunity to do something about it.
3). International Skeptics Day: By definition, a skeptic is a person who questions or doubts facts and theories. He, or she, is a mis-believer. A skeptic does not accept the "Given". This holiday is perfect for that 'Doubting Thomas' you know.
4). Rubber Duckie Day: This holiday celebrates the birthday of one of the most beloved bath toys in history!
Rubber Duckie you’re the one, You make bathtime lots of fun, Rubber Duckie I’m awfully fond of you Vo-vo-dee-o!  Rubber Duckie, joy of joys, When I squeeze you, you make noise, Rubber Duckie you’re my very best friend it’s true  Oh, every day when I, make my way to the tubby I find a little fellow who’s cute and yellow and chubby! Rub-a-dub-dubby!  Rubber Duckie you’re so fine, And I’m lucky that you’re mine. Rubber Duckie, I’d love a whole pond of, Rubber Duckie, I’m awfully fond of you!  Oh, every day when I, make my way to the tubby I find a little fellow who’s cute and yellow and chubby! Rub-a-dub-dubby!  Rubber Duckie you’re so fine, And I’m lucky that you’re mine, Rubber Duckie I’m awfully fond of you!  |

5). Public Radio Broadcasting Day: So to celebrate, turn on your radio and listen to the public radio station.
6). Stephen Foster Memorial Day: Many Americans pay tribute to one of the United States’ finest musicians on Stephen Foster Memorial Day, which is on January 13 each year. Stephen Foster was a songwriter who lived in the 19th century, and his songs, such as Oh! Susanna and My Old Kentucky Home, are still popular in modern times. Stephen Foster died in New York City on January 13, 1864. One of his best loved works, Beautiful Dreamer, was published shortly after his death. Stephen Foster Memorial Day was first officially observed on January 13, 1952, after President Harry Truman dedicated January 13 as the day to remember Foster through a proclamation in October 1951.
