People who question the official line from the Adam Lanza massacre are now being smeared as "Newtown Truthers".
There are all types of wild conspiracies floating around the Internet regarding the Sandy Hook massacre in Newtown, CT, and most of them are indeed complete hogwash. Some people believe there was a second shooter, while others think there is a link between this incident and the Batman massacre in Colorado. There are many loonies out there to be sure, and with social media, it's very easy for them to spread their message to huge numbers of people.
But in fairness, the authorities and the media should be blamed for the myriad of conspiracy theories. They reported so many fallacious details early on about the Adam Lanza shooting, that people had no clue what had really happened at that school for days. That is how all these fringe theories were born.
The most famous "Newtown Truther" is probably James Tracy, a professor at Florida Atlantic University, who implied on his blog that the government may have staged the event to create more gun control laws. His theory is believable to many people, because liberal politicians wasted no time in seizing on this tragedy, to advance their anti-Second Amendment agenda. Lanza, 20, took his own life, after killing 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown last month.

That's not really true~the report identifying his brother was corrected in less than 2 hours, & I believe the only matter that took days, obviously, was when the ME gave his news conference ID'ing the murder weapon. But it's what reporters do when they're all clamoring to be 1st with the "Breaking News." Hey, you SW's do it often enough, too!
