Jon Gosselin, ex husband of Kate Gosselin and of former Jon & Kate Plus 8 fame, has been slapped with a tax lien from the IRS.
According to a report from TMZ, Jon owes the IRS a whopping $39,000. And paying it back isn't going to be easy for the dad of eight.
It was in 2009 when Jon and Kate Gosselin divorced, and that was the very same year that magazines and talk shows ran rampant with interviews given by the Jon & Kate Plus 8 dad. Unfortunately, he never paid taxes on earnings from all his appearances and interviews and now Uncle Sam wants his due.
Jon doesn't earn a celebrity's salary any longer, so there isn't any conceivable way he can pay back this debt without doing one of two things. He'll either have to take a second job or sell off any valuables he may have accumulated during his days as a reality TV say. Unfortunately, Ed Hardy shirts aren't garnering much these days--not even on eBay. So Jon won't get rich that way. Maybe he banked some money from all those interviews and he can wipe it out now to pay the government back?
It sounds like Jon Gosselin needs some legal and financial advice. It's pretty unlikely Kate Gosselin will help out at all. After all, she's been crying broke since the day Kate Plus Eight was canceled.
TMZ tried reaching Jon for a statement, but thus far haven't received a return call. At least the phone was still hooked up!
