I bought most of my clothes at JC Penney for many years, because they had the basics I needed, and because they fit. A few months ago JC Penney underwent a transformation, and the things I used to buy aren't there any more. I started to notice it when I went to buy a basic sweater for fall of the type that they have stocked for years-and didn't find any. Later I went to buy some new jeans-their store brand. They no longer have them. My latest frustration recently when I went to buy a type of their socks that they have had for years...nope, they don't have those anymore either. Since they no longer have the clothes I need, there is no reason for me to go to JC Penney any more.

It took serveral calls to them in order to get a conformation for a pick-up return. Customer service with that was horrible. Then, the process repeated itself when it took far too long for the money to show up in my account. They initially denied receiving the product, and the returned recipt was in my hand. Then, they told me they had truck loads of returns and was not sure when my money would be refunded. However, they did encourage me to call back in a week. Very shabby, they had their merchandise, and I felt my money should have been refunded equally as promptly. No doubt, their vision has changed, and the service they one provided is not the service I am accustomed to having
If, by chance, you find a store with great customer service, encourage it by praising them and patronizing that store. If you get bad customer service, write a letter to corporate detailing the problem and offering to take your business elsewhere, then do so. In the end, we get the customer service we are willing to tolerate.
