A group of teens are using Twitter for good by posting over 3,000 tweets complimenting their classmates since October 2011.
Using the handle @westhighbros, Jeremiah Anthony and his friends pick random classmates and even teachers to send out quick, 140 character compliments via Twitter.
Now a little over a year later the Iowa City West High School teenagers have gotten some major recognition for their efforts when NBC's Today Show visited their school and featured this positive story. But it's not the recognition they want. The handle is not just "Jeremiah Anthony", it is @westhighbros. It's not about the who, but the why and friends explain that message is to show the world the positives in high school, in teenagers and not just the negatives that are seen daily in the news.
With positive messages this group of students are showing everyone that Twitter is not just a tool to further torment classmates as bullies now do, but instead to help build up their classmates.
If more teens were like Jeremiah and his friends, America could ditch bullies forever. This is a powerful anti-bullying message that more people, not just teenagers need to follow daily.
