The 2013 NBA power rankings have had the LA Clippers and New York Knicks holding down the top spot, but now it appears as though the San Antonio Spurs are ready to claim the No. 1 slot. In the updated 2013 NBA standings, the Spurs have the most wins in the league with a 26-8 record.
In the midst of a nice seven-game winning streak, the Spurs passed the 25-8 Clippers in the Western Conference standings. They are still percentage points behind the 24-7 Oklahoma City Thunder, though, creating a bit of a debate in the South about which team is better.

The veteran Spurs are definitely playing really good basketball lately and their impressive record is thanks in part to an 8-0 record against the Southwest Division. It also doesn't hurt that the team has gone 13-6 in a heavily weighted road schedule to begin the season.
After the Spurs come the Clippers, Thunder, Memphis Grizzlies (20-9), Miami Heat (22-8), and Knicks (21-10). This shows that the West has definitely taken over as the elite conference again, especially as the Knicks have lost five of their last 10 games. The debate about how those teams rank in the top 5 could be made for hours though.
Which teams do you think belong in the top two spots of the 2013 NBA power rankings? Have the veteran heavy San Antonio Spurs proven themselves as a real threat to win another NBA title this season?
