Too bad you closed down the Gun Experiment to new comments Vic, but I understand it considering the seeming lack of rational debate going on by some people there. I'll offer my response here if that's OK.

1) you can legislate stupid or crazy. Stupid people will do stupid things with a gun, and crazies will do irrational things with one as well. But it's not the choice of tool that makes them stupid or crazy.

2) another "experiment" that's been going on for years.

There is a logic as it applies to the existing and future laws that will apply to guns. Those who do not respect the laws will not respect the laws, regardless as to how many laws you create. The laws will impact those who had nothing to do with the problems created by the lawless, yet will the ones who will be impacted by the new laws. There are those who will just go by whatever their designated thinkers may suggest to them. They seem to not realize that they are losing their rights, as well. The whole mentality seems to defy logic...I will check out the link...Thank you, my friend...

Very Good Post! I never did like the three strikes law. So you get three chances to terrorize someone before any serious action is taken to stop you? I'm with you, Enforce the current laws first! Then we will have a true starting point for additional solutions! The lawless laugh at the slap on the wrist they receive!!!

Hi, Thomas...Enforcement of the laws is quite questionable as it applies to even making those who break the laws to even think about not doing so. Once someone exhibits behavior that indicates they are mentally unstable or have criminal intentions relating to gun ownership, they are the ones who should be address as a problem. No new laws should be targeting those who have never had any problems with the laws relating to gun ownership. Many people are simply willing to give up their rights because of the behavior of a few people...

If we just go by our drug laws, some people might get an understanding... Drugs are illegal but people still get it... If they make some of these guns illegal, the crooks will still get them...Its not rocket science... Its like anything else government does... they look at everything in the same way, when in reality they need to look at the problem.... not putting more government restrictions on the people...
Can government answer these questions? Why, do people not value their lives and those lives of others?
What made this person/persons go on a killing spree?
Why, is crime on the rise?
Why, dont people fear going to jail?
Why, does this country fail to have morals , character, integrity, values, etc anymore?
Why, are politicians allowed to do whatever they want but how many of them actually do any time for their crimes?
These people that do these killings, are they depressed, on medications, were there warning signs, that went undetected?
Now, could it just be that we do need some restrictions on smut, violence, etc? Could it be that parents need to be parents and stop letting the government raise YOUR kids for you? I dont believe Hilly," it takes a village to raise a child either. "It takes two devoted parents, to take the time to spend time with the kids, teach them, nurture them, educate them, give them a choice about God, but at least teach them about who his is... Set good examples for your kids, not sleep around the town, do drugs, drink and use the fowl f bombs in front of these kids.... Teach the kids that being a family and education is the KEY to success...If we got back on the right path in life, I think that many of our problems might decline... Not all of them, but many of them... and you cant go wrong being a good parent and citizen...

Excellent points Vickey! Thanks to that type of upbringing, we used to be a nation that didn't need to lock it's doors or worry about our children being in danger playing outdoors!

Hi, Vickey...I used the comparison of the implication of new gun laws to the drug laws, myself. Look at how many laws there are that relate to the illegal drug industry in this nation. It literally serves no purpose, as those who do not respect or obey those laws will not obey those laws. The same thing will happen with additional gun laws. Those who do not respect or obey the existing gun laws will certainly not respect or obey additional laws. The government knows this, but they have a goal of eventually taking the guns from us, and that cannot happen with opposition from the people. Sadly, many of the American citizens are willing to dismiss their rights simply because the government suggest it. A pretty sad bunch...Thank you, my friend...

Not a whole lot to say that has not already been said, just keep up the great work and maybe just maybe it will soak into some that want to learn more about why we do not want gun control.
Besides it being our constitutional right, not to many years down the road and people will whisper about those constitutional rights and wonder why we did not fight to keep them all I can say is dictator.
