I can't believe my baby is 16 today....but that's another post (maybe). Angela has decided she's going to celebrate a couple of the holidays that are for today. LOL. She was so excited about #1 and that it fell on her birthday.
So....what are we celebrating....
1). Festival of Sleep Day: This holiday is an opportunity to sleep in, snooze, doze, nap, and catch 40 winks. Festival of Sleep Day is a favorite holiday to catch up on a little sleep. Whether its all day, a full 8 hours, or just a power nap, enjoy the day sleeping. Cozy up in bed on the couch, or any other comfortable place. Oh.... don't forget your favorite stuffed animal. It's okay to sleep alone or with someone else. Angela and I both plan on sleeping in, if we can.
2). Fruitcake Toss Day: This holiday is your opportunity to finally throw away the old fruitcake. After the holidays are over, it's time to bring in the new, and toss out the old. Today is the day that the fruit cake goes....hooray! That is unless you've already eaten the fruitcake. I don't even think I've ever gotten a fruitcake from anyone.....
3). Humiliation Day:This holiday is not a day to humiliate someone. Rather, it should be viewed as a time to recognize the negativity of humiliating someone or a group of people.
4). National Chocolate Covered Cherry Day: It's the day to celebrate the ooey gooey goodness of cherries covered in chocolate. Yum!
5). J.R.R. Tolkien Day: This holiday celebrates the birthday of the English writer, poet, philologist, and university professor, best known as the author of the classic high fantasy works The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion. Angela, Pher, and I plan on celebrating this holiday by going to see The Hobbit at the theater.
6). Drinking Straw Day: This holiday is celebrated annually on Jan 3rd. On drinking straw day we are encouraged to celebrate the invention of the drinking straw, which was invented on this day in 1888. Marvin C. Stone, a paper cigarette holder manufacturer, patented the first wax drinking straw, according to Today in Science. It's probably difficult to find the paper and wax variety now, though I've used paper straws in the past.
7). Memento Mori "Remember You Die" Day: The literal translation for Memento Mori is Remember Death (in Latin). Today is about realizing we all must live life to its fullest. So don't wallow in your bad morning. Dust yourself off, get a fresh cup of coffee, and show today who is boss....yeah right....I'm still celebrating #1.
There is a lot to celebrate today, so get going! Have a great....is this Thursday already? Yikes!
