A video posted to YouTube shows what looks like a UFO exploding in space. The video was captured by iPhone through a telescope lens and is stumping news reporters and space experts alike. What is it?
The video is a news report filed by the local CBS affiliate in Sacramento, California. It sets up the submission by a viewer to the station of a video he filmed on December 20, 2012. In it, Elijah Prychodzko explains he was sky-watching and focused on a bright, round, unidentified flying object hovering in the sky.
After watching the iPhone video of the object, Prychodzko retrained the camera on the UFO, only to discover it had appeared to explode in mid-air.
The CBS reporter used station equipment to enlarge the video and it was discovered that something seemed to be orbiting the object just prior to the "explosion."
An expert was consulted but was unable to provide an explanation, other than to conclude it may have been a trick of light. But a look at the video seems to confirm that, whatever the object is, it seems to have imploded. Perhaps because of the orbital body?
