Amber, what about checking at thrift stores? We've seen some really, really nice ones for as little as $50!!!!!!

The thrift stores around here don't have that good of stuff. The consignment shops do, but they overprice their things. I was in a pathetic looking thrift store several years ago and you wouldn't believe how expensive the couch they had was. I mean I was like, do they think the Queen sat on this or something?

Oh gosh.....here I thought I had a good idea or two.....sorry about that.....it really is a shame when places overprice stuff........and, even at our favorite thrift store, we've seen some items way overpriced......like I found a purse or two that I loved but they had $19.95 on the tag.....no way, so I put them back.......most of the stuff is pretty reasonable, but one has to know prices. Sure hope you can find something.

Oh wow! I can find couches for $200 or less without bedbugs. I use Facebook groups in my area to find things peope are selling for cheaper prices.

I have gotten free couches with a bad odor before or broken springs but never one with bugs. Thank God

He's paranoid now. One of his friend's wife died recently. But she had been in and out of the hospital for months. So his friends got bed bugs from the hospital that traveled home with them. Well, my dad would always go over there to visit him and his wife. So even when they bed bugs had been treated and were supposedly gone, he STILL comes home after being over there and puts everything he and my mom wore to that house and washes it in the hottest setting on the washing machine. Just the thought of them gives him the willies.

bed bugs from the hospital? that is scary which means someone was not doing their job right.

I hate the hospital she was in. Due to my own health problems I've been in several local hospitals. The one she was in is by far the worst. I once talked my way out of being kept overnight for observation simply because I couldn't stand the thought of sleeping in such a dirty hospital.

To me hospitals should be clean

Pamela, Amber, Hospitals should be. I had abdominal surgery after my appendix burst. I had a bad infection and was readmitted a week after release from the germ that jumped in during the surgery... ???? they were afraid it was mrsa.

One of my friends caught staph in her lungs... in the same hospital...5 years before... when she broke her hip and went on a respirator and didn't come off of it for 2 years. The doctor puller her off, when they decided to let her die. She looked nothing at all like she did before she broke her hip... only her eyes were the same.. and she talked to me with her eyes...her husband explained what yes was and what no was... and indeed she could answer... she couldn't even move before she died... but someone moved her arm and she was furious... they did and I could see it in her eyes it was no no no.. She wanted to go and her husband talked to her about it in front of me and she said yes with her eyes. I brought her flowers on Mother's Day and she cried.

She was the chaplain at the hospital she got the staph in. Most hospitals have problems... and it's a risk when you go in. They found out... I read somewhere doctors where spreading germs with their ties.

When I was in the nursing home in 2006, and had shingles I could leave the room and everyone had to wear gloves, masks and paper gowns so the other people didn't get it... everyone, even visitors. It was bad enough to have shingles on top of all I was going through... but it was difficult to feel like a leper. I knew they had to do it... but I felt like a leper.

My uncle went in for Guillen Barre Syndrome. He was recovering well until he contracted a staph infection. And he died.

Another uncle went in for a heart attack. He then got a staph infection. He survived.

Scary stuff. I will just pray if I have to go under the knife I don't contract anything

He thinks I should get a new one because it would have a warranty. But I think I'll take a look in the ads and see if I can find something I think might get his attention enough to check it out. : )

And just in case people don't know who are reading this, if you take the showroom piece of furniture that is out being displayed, they'll knock off a couple hundred bucks to sell it to you.

he is right about the warranty. Maybe you can find something nice on ebay which is almost new.......

Maybe I can make do. The thing is on one side of the sofa you sit and you can feel something poking into your back. But that's okay, I just sit on the other side. But now my side has something that just feels like someone is sticking something into my back. And of course my back already has troubles. Maybe I can can find some kind of a pillow that blunts the feel.

awww.. those always something at Ikea for that budget!

I wish we had one. I've always wanted to go there!
