Dear Gather Friends,
I have some concerns… I have recently been hearing that Gather has been bought and sold… I have a question. How did you guys hear about this news? I Googled it, to no avail. Does anyone know when the “take over” will occur? Should we be worried?
The last time I cashed out was January 4th, 2012. I have been working my butt off to make as much money (points) this whole year, to see how much I could earn in an entire year. My plans were/are to cash out on exactly January 4th again, in 2013, and see how well I did.
If I have to cut my “little challenge” with myself short to redeem what I have earned, I will. But if the “take over” isn’t happening soon, I will continue for another 8 days… Pretty exciting race with myself; No matter what, I win! (UNLESS the new Gather folks don’t pay what I have worked for…)
Thanks so much for any info or advice you can offer…

All I could find, as did Madame, is that Gather, Inc changed it's name to Skyword, Inc some time back. No mention of a sale at all.

As far as I know Gather depends on Google and, IMO, it would be counterproductive for Google to sell Gather if this is right.
Then, whoever the buyer is, he will have to buy it with its commitments i.e. paying a bit for publicizing.
On the other hand, one has to publish many posts in order to get some small cash. I hope you didn't expect on such a production to make the last days of your months.

I have posted everyday, at least once a day, earning more than 100 views each (on the average) (Check it out) for 346 days! Just waiting for 8 more days to make it occur! "Such a production" has served me very well. Tonight, I have over 29,000 points. That is, at this time $464. Earnings? $1.29 a day.

I was expecting a $50 gift certificate from another site, never got it in the mail... and the site "disappeared"... I had earned many certificates that year to help out with our Christmas budget.... what really hurt was one of the people I gave a $50 home depot gift certificate I earned on here told me it probably wasn't any good. I had bought paint with other ones.. and I was very hurt they thought it was bogus.
Well, with all that goes on... I cash out at $10.
I think it is wise to exchange emails or connect on Facebook. A lot of my "gather" friends that used to be here... are connected to me on there.
I had not heard that rumor...but with other things I have seen I want to get what I can while I can because I do think things are going to change...
But I would cash out now! I learned my lesson on that with Superpoints. They went under and I never got paid.
I think Gather has stopped taking new members in order to rid the members they have now that share what they consider spam. The meaning of spam is so broad, so i am awaiting to the new policy and change sto come out. So, I can learna d hopefully don't full in to the spam catagory. I have stopped sharing freebies months ago and only share them on my Facebook page now.

I believe it was Stephanie someone that I read the post about the sale and that she had heard it from a reliable source.
I was interested to read what you would earn for the whole year and see you state it above.
I know that the majority of your photos get around 500 views or more!
I will be adding up what I've rec'd for the whole year....starting to work on that for all the websites I do today.
