Christmas Eve began horribly for two firefighters who responded to a call in Webster, New York. When arriving at the location of the fire, someone shot and killed the firefighters working the blaze. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo released a statement about the Webster shooting on his Facebook page.
The Governor sent his condolences to the family and
friends of the firefighters killed in action, calling the entire situation a senseless act of violence. He also sent out his best wishes to two other firefighters injured at the scene.
The entire fire appears to be a trap someone set in order to kill the firefighters responding to the fire. The shooter is also believed to be dead at the scene.
This is just another senseless act of violence that has taken place recently in the world, tragedies that make no sense. It has been only two weeks since a young man went into a school and murdered 20 young innocent children, and months since another man went into a movie theater and opened fire on the audience.
The Webster shooting has opened up the debate about gun control in the United States, and both sides seem to be using these acts as ammunition in their fight. Whatever the response has to be, it is the tragic loss of lives, whether young and innocent or of men trying to protect and serve innocent people, that remains the most important.
It is sad to watch the news and see what this world is coming to.

No problem. There are so many guns floating around in the USA that it is relatively easy to get one on the re-sale market, where nobody is going to check your I.D. Here in Virginia, he could have come to a Gun Show, where all the sales are "private" and you can get an AR-15, no questions asked, for around $1000.
How did he get the weapon? We all know.
Solution: it takes a good guy with a gun to stop the bad guy with a gun.
Seems to me that the crazies are winning, Wario. Seems to me that plan A- let's all scare the crazies by handing out guns to everybody- is not working. What else you got? :)
The NRA does not seem to know, Wario. They also do not seem to want to know. Does the NRA wish to make it illegal to sell rifles on the private market to individuals who may be felons? Just askin.'.
The NRA has been in charge of gun policy for the last 20 years. Blame gun control for what? Gun control essentially no longer exists. Enjoying the results?
My viewpoint is that the assault weapons ban should never have been allowed to die in 2004, and that it needs to be reinstated, along with a ban on 30 round clips. My viewpoint is that such a law did not end the american way of life in 1993, and would not end it in 2013 either.
