Gretchen did well through the night. Nonnie bought a foldable cot and it is placed in Gretchen's room. We were woken up about 2:30 last night because Gretchen was requesting medicine. We heard Gretchen got up and went to the bathroom and returned to bed without getting sick. Yay! Yesterday she got sick while leaving the hospital. And then again at night when she got up for her first bathroom call.
Surgery went really well. The doctor said the joint was a huge mess but her subtalar joint is now unfused and he does not think she will have a problem unless she develops arthritis in old age. Because there is now just empty space between the joints and no cartiledge, she may develop arthritis and then they go in and fuse the joints. Too funny because when I was looking up unfusing subtalar joint, the only info I could find was joint fusion for arthritis patients. She also got tendons moved to help support her arch. The doctor said my daughter is too flexible. He thinks the extra tendons will help but she still may need arch supports later. Then he looked at me and said, joint flexibility is genetic, Mom. Yeah it's all my fault.
So this morning I am sitting in Gretchen's room on her comfy new desk chair. Yes Santa came early to this house. Good thing too because the desk chair works well for bathroom calls. Yes, we have a wheelchair but Nonnie pointed out, we aren't going to be able to maneuver the wheelchair in the bathroom. My little girl also got her new computer. Santa is too nice, and Gretchen is so happy to play minecraft without any lag at all. Santa's elf brought her the right computer. Well my little girl is starting to get active; I'm going to spend some time with her.

ps. At some later point, she'll thank you for that flexibility.
Thanks for posting to the Santa Wall on The Triple Name Club where it's now featured.
