Miss Universe Red Carpet: Giuliana Rancic, Jeannie Mai

The 2012 Miss Universe Pageant on December 19 kicked off with a bold and bright display on the red carpet. Hosts Giuliana Rancic of E! Fashion Police and Style Network's Jeannie Mai stepped out in their best pageant-ready gowns in Las Vegas.

Giuliana Rancic, who shared hosting duties with Bravo TV's Andy Cohen, walked the Planet Hollywood red carpet in a black gown. Mrs. Rancic picked an effectively dramatic, draped number. Giuliana's strapless, fitted bodice gown exploded into a sweeping mermaid hem. With a nod to pageant ways, Giuliana's makeup was a little heavy and her Loren Jewels rubies were dazzling.

Before offering her fashion commentary during the 2012 Miss Universe pageant, Jeannie Mai did some pageant gown modeling of her own. The 32-year-old TV personality turned to go-to pageant gown designer Sherri Hill for the occasion. Jeannie picked a bedazzled bodysuit and a floor-scraping fuchsia skirt. Naturally, all beauty contest attire requirements were checked—heavy beading, flash of leg, long lashes, big hair.
