Will Ben Affleck run for Massachusetts senator if John Kerry gets chosen to replace Hilary Clinton as Secretary of State? It seems it may be a possibility.

According to the Boston Business Journal's Jon Keller, the political analyst for CBS Boston, thinks he may. After all, he was born in Cambridge, is over 30, and could probably get the 10,000 signatures needed. Affleck has also been active in Democratic politics. He certainly has money and has been active in Democratic politics for over 10 years, so he has political connections.
Should he run? Why not? Schwarzeneger, despite his personal problems of late, was popular enough to serve two terms as governor of California. Clint Eastwood served as mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, for two years. Ronald Reagan was not a very good actor, and he became President of the United States. Ben Affleck is, no doubt, as intelligent and politically aware as they were or as most senators are when they begin their terms.
Certainly, it will be more unusual for Massachusetts to elect an actor to office than it is for California, but there is no reason Affleck could not stand a good chance if he decides to run.
