The end of the last cycle of the Mayan long-count calendar is just days away, on December 21st, 2012 and according to a special due to air on Tuesday on the Discovery Channel, it might just be the day of the Zombie Apocalypse 2012 as well. Hopefully, you are prepared with a shotgun and a zombie preparedness kit just in case Dec. 21st turns out to be like a scene from "The Walking Dead."
"Zombie Apocalypse" is due to air Tuesday, December 18th at 10:00PM, following a string of shows that all feature the apocalypse. For those who enjoy end of the world programs, it is time to clear your schedule and get some snacks because you will have a feast of programming on Discovery Channel.
The program will feature real life "zombie preppers" people who truly believe that some type of infection or disease will kill millions, and then cause them to rise up as undead creatures. It features four people, a mother, a teacher, an ex-military firearms instructor and the founder of the Kansas Anti-Zombie Militia. No, they aren't joking. They really think that zombies are the most imminent concern.
The zombie apocalypse 2012 may just be a great movie title or something fun to think about for most, but these people take it seriously, and it isn't just the people. The show has experts that are expected to prove that a zombie pandemic is plausible, perhaps even likely, and that if a single zombie is infected a city the size of New York could be overrun with the "walking dead" in just eight or nine days.
The lineup for Tuesday includes "How the World Will End" at 8:00PM, and "Apocalypse 2012 Revelations" at 9:00PM, followed by "Zombie Apocalypse," on Discovery. Check your local listings.
