The 50 Shades of Grey movie casting rumors have gotten a little too hot for E. L. James that the author is trying to get fans to calm down after a flurry of reports about Henry Cavill being in talks to play Christian Grey.
Earlier this year there were rumors that Cavill had already talked to the 50 Shades filmmakers about playing Christian, and a recent comment the Man of Steel actor made did make it seem possible that there could be some truth to these rumors. However, Cavill's rep quickly denied that the actor is in talks for the part.
To be fair, Henry Cavill isn't the only one who whipped fans into a frenzy. E. L. James recently took to Twitter to ask her followers who they think should play Christian in the 50 Shades of Grey movie. This made it seem like the real casting talks are actually nigh.
But now James is once again telling fans to cool it because it's still going to be a long time before the filmmakers talk to any actors about playing Christian Grey. According to Entertainmentwise, here's what she said about the qualities her Christian needs to have and the casting process:
"I think emotional intelligence, a sense of humor — those kinds of things. I feel like we haven't got that far yet in the process. We're still at the script stage, so we're a long way off."
So how cruel is James for getting fans all excited with casting talk one day and telling them that there will be no news for a long time the next?
On the bright side on things, Kelly Marcel is finally starting work on the screenplay, and fans now have two traits to look for in their Christian favorites. Most actors have to have some level of emotional intelligence since controlling emotions is part of their job, but Ian Somerhalder has other traits that prove that he's emotionally intelligent—his charity work proves that he's empathetic, motivated, and that he has great social skills. He's also proved that he has a sense of humor by joking that he's building a sex dungeon in his basement to practice for 50 Shades.
But Matt Bomer also seems like he could be a very emotionally intelligent guy, and he has to have a pretty good sense of humor since he played a living Ken doll in Magic Mike.
So who do you think has the traits that James described—Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer, or someone else?
