Sunday night, actor Jamie Foxx appeared on the 2012 Soul Train Award show in Las Vegas. And while he was on stage, had an interesting gem of wisdom to bestow onto the viewers of the show:
"It's like church over here. It's like church in here. First of all, give an honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama."
It's no secret that Foxx has been a long time Obama supporter. He was a huge public advocate of the President's recent reelection campaign. But to turn him into the God of America? That's taking things a little far.
Check out the video of Foxx's presentation. He seems like he should be preaching in front of a huge congregation during one of those televised church services than on a stage in Vegas yelling out to an Awards Show audience!
Despite his seemingly extreme statement, Foxx isn't the first person—celebrity or otherwise—to raise President Obama to deity status. He's been compared to Jesus Christ and called the Messiah by multiple supporters of his 2012 campaign. Apparently there's less of a separation between the church and state than previously thought!
No matter what end of the political spectrum a person stands on, granting the President God-like status is just taking things a little too far. And Jamie Foxx is definitely in need of a little reality adjustment.
