Your spine
delivers on its promises
vertebrae by vertebrae
linking my sinew and muscle
safely tucked under your skin
and somehow discovers meaning
in the lost puzzle pieces
I leave like bread crumbs
along the path from
here to there
Your spine is resilient
unlike words which catch
in my throat without a filter
different from lyrics which float
above the great unease
turning shades of ripened plum
It is firm and strong
holds me together
when I no longer can
You, your spine binds me
to who I say I am
it forgives the shadow
ignites me to rise again

I think the best relationships are where we draw strength from each other, yet stay bound to who we are as individuals.
Thank you for seeing this in my poem.
And thank you, Irina!
WOW
Maybe even double-Wow in this instance. Thanks.
Now write some more... and more... and more...
Oh, I'm not the right type to enjoy Bocelli, but it was a nice addition to your piece.

I so relate . . . it is only in the last 2 years that I am bound to who I am
