Restaurant fight followed by sleepover or not, Jelena is decidedly passe, with Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez going their separate ways—for the time being. But with so many songs in his repertoire that are reportedly inspired by Gomez, just how will the "Boyfriend" singer continue to perform them after the big breakup with the same pop-star-quality conviction? And what will happen when the 18-year-old music-boy-wonder performs at the American Music Awards 2012, hosted on Sunday night, Nov. 18?
The Biebs is reportedly set to belt out his new single with Nicki Minaj, "Beauty and the Beat," at the AMAs. But if the latest rumors prove true, it will be very much Selena-less. As Sugarscape reminds, Minaj's portion of the funky, hip-hop lyrics go something like this: "Justin Bieber, you know I'm a hit 'em with the ether, buns out, wiener, but I gotta keep an eye out for Selena."
But Bieber is apparently removing the Selena Gomez reference—moving forward, at least. Unfortunately, it's too late to change the song for the album and the video, but Bieber could definitely alter the American Music Awards track. Gomez is reportedly not attending the show (although that could change at a moment's notice), and it looks like she won't even have a token appearance in her ex's song!
"There's no way he's going to be singing it or have anyone else sing it—including Nicki—at his concerts. He knows it would just rub salt in the wounds for Selena and there would be a huge backlash from his girl fans, so it's easier forgotten," an insider confirmed of the Biebs' removal of Gomez's name.
So is Bieber really concerned about his now-ex-girlfriend's well-being, or is his removal of her name just another underlying way to throw a secret little revenge message her way that he's so over Jelena?
