Sadly, Hostess announced it will close three bakeries after a strike hurt the company. Do people not realize that unions put people out of work?
According to Fox News, "The maker of Twinkies, Ding Dongs and Wonder Bread said Monday that the strike has prevented it from producing and delivering products, and it is closing bakeries in Seattle, St. Louis and Cincinnati. The facilities employ 627 workers."
The closure of the bakeries will not only hurt the workers but the economy as a whole. This means more unemployed and a dip to the housing market. My heart goes out to those workers who will be out of a job. What do people think when they strike? The old adage comes to mind, "you can't get blood from a stone."
Hostess is in trouble, and a strike during these hard economic times was just wrong.
