Texas Seceding from USA

I have been on the phone this morning, waking some folks up. I talked with family in Texas. Told them that we cannot move for sevral months. I also want to see how this is going to pan out.  We don't have a home built on the property.  We have to wait and see at this point. Won't hurt to start packing.

there was a lot on the news yesterday about various states (20-25 of them) that want to secede......

i only remember a few of them, but they included: tx, in, mi, mt, wy, nc, sc, va, oh, etc....

there are online petitions...when these petitions reach a certain number of signatures, then can be sent to the federal government, for cnsideration.....so far, TX is the only state that has reached the required number, and their petition has been sent...

a government professor at a major univ. has said that our u.s. constitution does not allow for any state to secede.....so, i am not sure where all of this will lead.....

the question becomes would there be a civil war?......will people flock to, or would they leave, if their state secedes??

Just be careful where you move. There are petitions from a number of TX cities, seeking to secede from Texas.

We still live in the greatest nation on earth. Where else are we going to go to have the freedoms we have here, that so many have fought and died to protect. We all need to work to make things we dont like better and be grateful for the sacrifices made by so many that we can live in a country where we have the freedom to even get up a petition.

Those freedoms are being denied us more and more, though. The US has become an oppressive government and the avenues for change are no longer open to the poor masses, only for the rich and privileged.

That government is the one we put in power. We would do better to get rid of the ones we disagree with and put some real people in office. This tantrum people are throwing is just biting our nose off despite our face.

An impractical idea at best, since doing so would literally bankrupt the independent state and it's population. The national debt would still have to be paid and secession would still obligate the state to pay its share. A high price to pay for foolishness.

I read somewhere in an online forward forward forward, that in its original treaty Texas has the right to secede and with the amount of resources it has it could make it. Of course I am sure that was a humorous bit, but it makes you think. The gist, if I remember, was that with the oil and the location, and the guns that private owners have they could do it and make it stick.

Are the citizens of Texas going to eat their guns and drink their oil? Or are they still going to want strawberries and oranges from Florida, cotton and vegetables from California, corn from the Midwest and apples from Washington? You get the idea...

Chrietina they have all kinds of crops in texas and all the meat you can eat, plenty of food. Plenty of oil and gasoline, computers, Just have to build a stronger fence to keep illegals out. Texas has everything that you need.

This whole secession thing is so utterly ridiculous that it is starting to be funny. And having 25000 signatures does not a majority make... The world is laughing - and I wonder if that is really what is being intended. The idea is so immature that no one can really take it seriously except for the "signees" - for which action the rest of us do not need to take them seriously anymore :-)

if any STATE WERE TO LEAVE THE UNION, THIER RESPECTIVE LEGESLATIVE HOUSES WOULD HAVE TO PASS SUCH A BILL AND THIER GOVERNOR WOULD HAVE TO SIGN IT INTO LAW.
