I just tried hummus for the first time ever!
It was never really something I had a reason to try before, but as I'm trying to eat healthier, I decided to try some today.
I bought some veggies to go along with trying to eat better and lose some weight. I bought a bunch of celery because they are a negative calorie food (takes more calories to digest than they contain). But I can't eat raw celery without something to dip it in!
I was thinking of putting some peanut butter on the celery. Peanut butter is good for you and has a lot of protein. But then I saw the hummus. I know this is generally a dip for crackers or pita bread, or a spread for wraps or whatever.. but I decided to use it as a veggie dip.
Hummus is made from chick peas (garbanzo beans) and sesame seeds. It is a good source of protein, but is lower in fat than peanut butter. It also has a lot of other nutrients, amino acids, and antioxidants.
I liked it and will definitely be eating it more often.
Do you eat hummus? What do you dip in your hummus?
