And the businesses that fail will be a good opportunity for Bain Capital.
Only benefits from this storm!!!
A good one Ken... and lets not forget the Fast and Furious cover up...
Actually I have (by virtue of a government purchase agreement) the opportunity to pay to have the FEMA parent agency [Dept of Homeland Security] buy 450 millions rounds of 40 caliber ammunition. 450 million rounds. Isn't that great! Do you suppose the State agencies don't ALSO make ammunition purchases? Essentially redundant purchases. What Romney said was exactly correct. We have to be smarter in how we spend money.

Wake up.
I knew if I waited long enough I would reveal your low level sources of information. I cannot say it was enjoyable, just informative and correct!
Today: From Mittens
“Absolutely. And every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that’s the right direction. And if you can go even further and send it back to the private sector, that’s even better,” Romney responded.
“Instead of thinking in the federal budget, ‘What we should cut?’ we should ask ourselves the opposite question, ‘What should we keep?’ We should take all of what we’re doing at the federal level and say, ‘What are the things we’re doing that we don’t have to do?’ And those things we’ve got to stop doing,” Romney continued.

Turning stuff that affects multiple states over to individual states invites inefficiencies, differences in strength of response, and duplication of effort. It may even result in states competing for resources in ways that result in winners and losers.
Yup, great idea, highly practical.
He is on the record saying "This is a level of crisis which is beyond anything these communities have ever experienced from water in their history" then the next day he was on GMA cracking Noah jokes about it.
Remember, this is the same guy who takes credit for saving the Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games, but asked for and received a $2.7 billion bailout from the federal government when he couldn't get enough money from corporate sponsors to cover the budget.
Yep.
"The private sector does very well. The government bloats, wastes, and muddles."
Do you have links showing how great the private sector does in places where there is no government?
Not a link.
....now that's just an absolutely moronic statement.....try another diversion tactic or just get down to the real nitty gritty of government waste this conversation could have discussed ....once again.....the nose in the hiney hole is revealed and another case of Parcopresis will go without proper treatment......woohooo Wil.....pull your nose out first.....baby steps lead to cures.
I provided a link. Now it's your turn.
"Besides, you haven't addressed my other points. Do you not wish to?"
If you made other points related to Mitt Romney's position on eliminating FEMA, I haven't seen them. If you're referring to your various off-topic comments, then no, I don't particularly want to address them. It looks like you're using some sort of right-wing rant generator, and I have no interest in seeing how deep that rabbit hole goes.
On a more serious level, I would hate to have to rely on Wal Mart for disaster relief. I know that the government won't be trying to make a profit from the misery of the people.
If we left everything up to private enterprise, we would still be using rotary dial phones, driving gas guzzling V-8s, and still have only three TV channels, four if you include PBS. On the other hand, we would probably still be fed well on flights. People seem to be unaware that private enterprise is all about cornering the market for themselves then protecting their market share. It was government breaking up monopolies which triggered so much innovation. Government set standards for gas mileage and auto makers howled that they couldn't ever meet the new standards.
What made them shut their stupid mouths?
It took the New Orleans oil disaster. The federal government under Obama saved their bigoted asses and they became silent ever since.
Same thing here. The right wingers like that jackass governor of New Jersey have been attacking the president. Now that he has saved their sorry asses, the critics are silent again.
JUst want to get it right - would hate to accuse of being on the wrong end of "the bag".
For those of you who say there is too much government, count your blessings.
