Robert Pattinson may have just admitted that 50 Shades of Grey would be a huge inspiration to him, should he ever write a book (except, he said, the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele would be reversed!). Not so for fellow Brit Tulisa Contostavlos, the singer-songwriter, former N-Dubz star and The X Factor UK judge, who has another project on her busy plate; she's writing her first fiction book. But don't expect the novel to have any measure of Grey area in it.
"I'm writing a novel. Let's say there are elements of the book based on real-life characters I know," the 24-year-old songstress recently revealed, as Daily Star reports. So, will X Factor's colorful, head honcho Simon Cowell make a token appearance? Or perhaps the talent show's former judge, Kelly Rowland, could show up in a cat fight or as an antagonist of sorts—she and Tulisa were not the best of friends, to say the least.
But any raunchy real-life-inspired story lines aside, E.L. James she is not, and Tulisa has no problem admitting as much. She added of her upcoming fiction tome, "It's definitely not 50 Shades of Grey. It's exciting for me. It's something that I wanted to do with the same publishers as my autobiography." In fact, Contostavlos didn't even cite James as her favorite author; that spot is reserved for another Brit, crime writer Martina Cole.
Tulisa may seem a bit young to pen her autobiography, Honest, My Story So Far. But it packed a graphic, provocative and perhaps surprising punch. With the track record of that personal tome, her new work of fiction should be plenty "shades" of risque—even if there's no Grey angle.
