Robert Pattinson is just full of surprises. The Twilight heart-throb recently revealed his interest in doing Fifty Shades of Grey. Before Twihards all over the world fall to the floor in a collective super-swoon, RPattz wasn't talking about playing the coveted titular role in the eagerly awaited 50 Shades of Grey movie. He was talking about the book. That's right. Kristen Stewart's beau wants to write a novel or perhaps even a trilogy of novels resembling E. L. James' uber famous mommie porn tome—but with one big difference. In Rob's version, the woman will be dominant, and the man will be her submissive slave. Yikes. Has RPatzz given the world a peek into his secret psychosexual nature?
In the interview, Pattinson was asked if he was interested in writing and if so, what sort of books he'd "like to be the author of." Without missing a beat, the Cosmopolis man replied:
"Surely something like Fifty Shades of Grey. I would really like to do that and invert the roles: making the woman the one who punishes the man. It'd be so much fun. Something like Misery, but really he loves to be in that situation."
For the uninitiated, Misery was a creepy Stephen King novel about a man who is rescued by a woman after he's injured in a single car accident on an icy country road. While nursing him back to health at her isolated farmhouse, she falls crazy in love with him. The operative word is "crazy." She literally holds him prisoner in her house and refuses to let him leave. The film version of Misery starred Kathy Bates and James Caan.
So, there you have it. The two questions that come to mind are: Could Robert Pattinson's fans ever accept their idol as a submissive man willingly serving and being punished by a dominant mistress? And perhaps even more intriguingly, if E. L. James had written her famous tome about a rich, powerful, beautiful dominatrix and her handsome, submissive beau, would millions of women be obsessed with it?
What do you think?
