The 50 Shades of Grey movie casting rumors have continued to escalate at a breakneck pace, but can there be too much Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele chatter for the upcoming film's own good? Actors continually on the short list of favorites for the roles—think Ian Somerhalder, Matt Bomer and Ryan Gosling—may secretly be loving all the attention, but fans may finally be tiring of the incessant name-dropping and the glut of polls that have yet to result in a final answer from movie producers.
The buzz surrounding the big-screen adaptation of E.L. James best-selling, risqué book has finally proven too hot to handle, at least according to a new report by Books & Review. "[Fans] want REAL casting news. They want to hear James say 'We have casted...' or producers Michael de Luca and Dana Brunetti to say 'We narrowed it down to two actors for Christian Grey.'"
Commenters have also weighed in, saying that poll and voter fatigue has set in and that fans are becoming discontent and are losing interest. "The never-ending list is getting tiresome," said one fan. A former voter even admitted, "It was fun at first, but it's no longer fun and has become quite redundant and dragged out." Another added, "I would prefer real new news, not poll after poll confirming what we already know—who the fan favorites are."
So, even 50 Shades of Grey seems to have a breaking point. Producers may be strategically delaying any official releases of stars for the highly anticipated Christian and Ana roles in order to capitalize on the Shades sensation sweeping the nation. But they may want to make a move fast, as they surely don't want to lose the hype nor the story's most devoted followers before filming even begins.
Is there becoming too much "Grey" area?
