'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie: Uma Thurman Vs Kim Cattrall? See Poll Results

While the Fifty Shades of Grey movie casting war has been largely about finding the right actors for the principal roles of Christian Grey and his slave girl, Anastasia Steele, people often forget that the supporting roles also have to be cast. Rumor has it that competition for what may be the most fascinating subsidiary character in E.L. James' famous "mommie porn" tome has been narrowed down to two famous actresses—Uma Thurman and Kim Cattrall.

Both Uma Thurman, 42, and Kim Cattrall, 56, are being considered for the role of the sexy older woman, Elena Lincoln, a.k.a. Mrs. Robinson. Elena was a friend of Christian's mother, and it was her who turned him on to BDSM sex when she made him her submissive slave during his teenage years. Poor stupid—er—clueless Anastasia harbors a "deep hatred" for Elena because she considers Elena's relationship with Christian "abusive." Gosh, wonder how she describes her own relationship with the older butt-clamp wielding Mr. Grey? Whatever. The question is: which of these hot, mature actresses—Thurman or Cattrall—would make the better Elena?

This is a very hard call, because the answer is both. Thurman has 51 acting credits under her belt, and she's fresh from her triumphant portrayal of Robert Pattinson's smart, lustful older wife in Bel Ami. In fact, when presenting an award to Thurman at the Elle Women in Hollywood gala, Pattinson joked that Uma played "someone more intelligent, more charming, wittier and better in bed than me." Thurman will be seen next in the misogynistically titled Lars Von Trier's film, "Nymphomaniac, which is rumored to feature real-life sex scenes." Yikes.

Unless you slept through the last dozen years, you will remember Kim Cattrall as the sexually aggressive blonde, Samantha Jones, in Sex and the City. Famous for playing "sexy and successful," La Cattrall would make the perfect Elena. During her years as Samantha, she obviously had no problem with nudity or sex scenes with much younger men. Unlike la Thurman, Cattrall is not signed on to any upcoming film projects.

In a US Weekly poll that asked "Who should play Elena Lincoln in Fifty Shades of Grey," Cattrall won a 46 percent majority of the votes, beating out a bevy of sexy, mature actresses including Demi Moore, Charlize Theron, and Halle Barry. Interestingly, Kim Cattrall shares a 6 degrees of separation link with "mommie porn" millionaire E.L. James. Both women were born in the same UK hometown.

So, there you have it. Who do you think should play Anastasia's nemesis, Mrs. Robinson, in the 50 Shades of Grey film?

Note: It's hardly surprising yet still sad that Ana despises Elena for "abusing" the teenage Mr. Grey, yet she doesn't hate Christian for doing the same things to her. Ah, women. Can't live with them. Can't chain them up in sex dungeons. Oh—er—well, you can actually.
