Deliberations that began on Thursday have ended with the verdict of guilty in the murder of a Texas cab driver on October, 2011!

 

Being that the state did not persue the death penalty, Derrick Hunt will spend his life in prison without parole for the murder of John Dexter.

 

Mrs. Dexter stated, "Justice has been served." She also said this about her husband, "He was a very good man who would do anything for anybody and loved everybody."

 

This tragic story has been of interest for my husband because he and Mr. Dexter work for the same cab company.

I agree with you! I don't understand why they didn't pursue the death penalty. What happened to a "life for a life"??

So true, I think the only time I can see the point of killing someone is if your defending your family or yourself but self defense isn't the same thing as cold blooded murder.

For sure! Oh, when they were leading this teenager away in handcuffs, he dropped the F word with cameras rolling. Goes to show what type of person he really is.

He probably didn't get the death penalty because of his age, but he can't kill anyone else!
