The 50 Shades of Grey movie casting buzz is only getting bigger and bolder, with new players emerging on the scene everyday to take on the lucrative (and lascivious) roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. And now the chatter has expanded to include who might be the perfect PYT for the role of Kate Kavanagh, Ana's best friend. While author E.L. James isn't providing any clues as to the cast for the film adaptation of her best-selling book, she has signed on the dotted line for another endeavor--although it may be an unexpected one for many fans to fathom!
For James, Hollywood may be quite the rat race, especially now that she's been catapulted into the spotlight with the upcoming Grey flick. But she's firmly focused on horse racing, instead. According to a new report, James has taken some of her earnings--she's assumed to be worth a cool $32 million--to buy into a racehorse partnership called "Team 50," natch.
As Entertainmentwise confirms, there will be a trio of horses (one for each book in her Shades series, but of course!), and a gray colt named Fifty Shades of Grey is the first in the mix. With a name like that, the colt should be set to be one hot-to-trot stallion.
The other two colts, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, will apparently come next, with the author planning to purchase them next year--and to buy them with a six-figure budget to boot. Even better, female jockeys are rumored to be the ones riding the horses. Perfect.
The tongue-in-cheek analogies between James' horse-racing hobby and 50 Shades of Grey could probably go on forever--from (jockey) whips to contracts and more that are probably better left to the imagination. But which one of the James' three racehorses will really be the leading star, and perhaps earn the nickname Christian Grey?!
