Now that the Fifty Shades of Grey movie has acquired an official screenwriter, it may also soon snag its official Anastasia Steele. According to reports, Mila Kunis is in negotiations to play the coveted role.
Yes, the actress Esquire Magazine named the Sexiest Woman in the World is now the frontrunner to play the sexiest submissive virgin in the movie version of E.L. James' inexplicably popular novel. Not only is Ashton Kutcher's main squeeze the fans' and studio's favorite to play Ana, her representatives are reportedly in ongoing negotiations for the part. But why Kunis? How did she beat out more famous young women with more impressive screen credits under their belts. The former 50 Shades of Grey frontrunner Emma Watson is a prime example, as is Kristen Stewart, whose Twilight Saga character, Bella Sawn, served as James' model for Ana Steele.
Well, there's an answer to that too. According to sources, James and the film's producers were " swayed [by] Mila Kunis' girl next door charm."
OK.
Perhaps more importantly, there is reportedly "huge pressure to get production of the Fifty Shades Of Grey movie underway." The "mommie porn" film is bound (pun intended) to become a multi-billion dollar franchise just like Twilight. And the producers probably feel that too much time has already been wasted with the quest for the coveted leads. Furthermore, the casting decision that will make or break the franchise will not be the woman who plays Anastasia. It will be the man who wins the role of suave, sadistic Christian Grey. Women make the most obsessive--er--devoted fans. Just get a load of Justin Bieber's beliebers or Robert Pattinson's twihards. And the twihards are mostly adults! The suits who will oversee the making of Fifty Shades pf Grey probably decided to just pick someone hot, brunette, and famous to play Ana and get it over with. Now they can concentrate on the infinitely more important task of finding Mr. Grey.
Congrats, Mila.
Everybody else, stay tuned.
