Romney apparently wants to disarm his abortion opponents while winking at his anti-abortion backers:
"There's no legislation with regards to abortion that I'm familiar with that would become part of my agenda," Romney said.
This is what they call a non-denying denial. Any idiot knows that the next president, if Republican, will be immediately have 50 tons of anti-abortion legislation piled onto his desk- especially if the Republican Party gets control of the US Senate. He won't have to look for it or ask for it, it will be there every morning when he wakes up. Will he sign it? Well, he has already addressed that topic:
(this is)"coming from Mitt Romney, who has consistently called for the overturn of Roe v Wade; who said that he would appoint Supreme Court justices who would do just that; who has an extensive pro-life agenda on his website that anybody can access," says Beth Shipp, political director of NARAL.
Well, yeah, and if you read Romney's latest statement, above, he never claimed that he would NOT put an end to R0e v. Wade, or would NOT appoint SCOTUS judges who are sure to end it. So his latest statement is again, aimed at disarming his opponents. His backers, they already understand that he is not being offered any choices to go back to the pro-choice Romney of 1975. What's the thing they say about dancing with them that brung you to the dance? It's just what you do.
