The Lost Immortals: When Copper Suns Fall (Lost Immortal Saga)
By KaSonndra Leigh
The first thing that made me curious about “The Lost Immortals†was the beautiful mythology it promised: magic, different types of angels and a fascinating world where these angels had to hide among humans in order to stay alive. What I didn’t expect was for this seemingly paranormal story to be filled with dystopian elements, which took me completely by surprise. After all, what else can you wish for when you have just a bit of “The Hunger Games†mixed in with just a bit of “Angelology
I eagerly started devouring the book and I was not disappointed.
In “The Lost Immortals†we have a strong character, Chela Prizeon, a 16 year old girl who is determined to save her twin brother when he is contaminated with the Glutovirus and falls into a coma.
Though the doctor tells her there is no cure, she decides to do whatever it takes to save him and protect their secret: they both have celestial blood in their veins. But what is so wrong with being an angel?
Leigh builds a very complex, very engaging world that has been almost
destroyed by the Apocalyptic War fifty five years prior to the current events, a war that the angels lost, leaving them vulnerable and with only two choices: hide or die.
Chela has to protect the secret of her origin if she doesn’t want to be mercilessly killed by humans. In creating her world, Leigh is very careful and offers just the right details and the amazing descriptions a reader needs in order to become absolutely entranced by the book.
I must mention that this is the re-edited version of the novel and the author has improved a lot on the background information she gives on the Apocalyptic War. This is a big plus because, as a reader, I love to learn as much as possible about the world, the characters and all the reasons for which everything ended up the way it did.
There’s a great feeling of satisfaction when you are able to
connect to the plot and the characters. For me, “The Lost Immortals†was a great surprise and a fascinating read. The book has everything it needs to be rated as one of my top favorites: a dystopian society, paranormal beings, magic, a heart-breaking romance and a lot of mystery and suspense.
I love books that keep me on the edge of my seat, and “The Lost Immortals†clearly achieved that.
