Mrs. Boone lived in Howard City, Michigan, a village in the southwest portion of the state.
In July of 1914, Mrs. Boone was celebrating her birthday.
She received a lovely postcard from her friends, Mary and Evah Baldwin.
The Baldwins posted the card from Newayco, Michigan.
Newayco is a small city in a rural area of west central Michigan. The Muskegan River flows through the town. In the last half of the 19th century, the area supported a boom in lumbering. It remains a rural area today.
