Robert Pattinson's off-screen persona was scathingly satirized in a recent Saturday Night Live skit. The skit mocked the Twilight heart-throb's speech patterns, brooding intensity, refusal to utter the dreaded "K-word" (Kristen Stewart) in interviews, and of course his fabled follicular development. The results were hilarious. But was the skit too harsh? Was it, considering everything Rob has been through in the past 2 months, just plain mean?As you can see on the video below, SNL obviously weren't trying to sugar coat the Pattinson caricature. From the time he creepily makes his entrance on the mock Live! With Kelly & Michael Show, Parody Rob pretty much personifies all of the real Cosmopolis man's most annoying—er—most familiar mannerisms. But even the touchiest Team Rob twihards would have to admit, the results are hilarious. When asked how he was "handling all the media attention," Rob demonstrates his changeable moods by running his fingers through his hair from left to right and then vice versa. He then rises abruptly and retires into a corner to brood. "Oh, that's so sexy!" squeals "Kelly Ripa" ecstatically. "I can't believe I'm getting paid to do this."
Unfortunately, a good time was not had by all. In one of Hollywood Life's famous polls, a disapproving 56.06 percent voted "Yes" to the question: "Was the joke too harsh?"
Robert Pattinson is obviously fortunate to have such loyal, protective fans. Wonder if he would have considered the SNL skit amusing or mean?
Oh well, enjoy the video. Or disapprove if you must. "Parody Rob" makes his entrance at about the 2:45 mark.
