Leaving the Red Cliffs we continued north until we reached the Little Colorado and stopped at a big souvenier lodge for a potty break and to tour the store. Before we left we walked behind the lodge to view the river. Off and on we had run through light rain. The monsoons were lasting longer then usual this year.
My son Jim and his oldest daughter Naomi.
The rain brought a rainbow.
Another view of the rainbow before we headed up the mountain.
At the rangers station we were told that these are petrified sand dunes. I had no idea there were any such thing.
All this area is Indian reservation. We passed many family compounds like this.
On top of the mountain we stopped at a lookout. This land is so vast and seems to be always changing even as you look at it.
The cliff behind us.
Jim, Katie and Naomi enjoying the view. We were lucky there weren't to many people there.
Hope you enjoyed this segment of our trip. I still haven't found the words to describe the feelings you get when you view this panorama.
