Matt Lauer has reportedly turned in to what some Today Show insiders refer to as an 'anchor animal.' Is he abusing the Today Show staff? Lauer was instrumental in the firing of former co-anchor Ann Curry. Now he's blaming others for the show's plummeting ratings.
According to a report from Radar Online, Lauer is apparently running the show at Today--both literally and figuratively. Maybe Ann Curry is grateful she got canned!
Sources from Today say Lauer has, "turned into an anchor animal" on the set of NBC's morning show, micromanaging the program, belittling staffers and forbidding use of the phrase "Good Morning America."
It seems Lauer is practically crazed over the sudden ratings plunge and knowing that Good Morning America is beating Today in the ratings. He constantly tells staff members to 'work harder.'
A second source says this is rather ironic coming "from a guy working four days a week, making millions."
Is Matt Lauer losing his grip? Will the network soon realize they made a huge mistake in replacing Ann Curry with Savannah Guthrie? How long do you think it might be before there is an enormous shake up at NBC and Lauer's duties--as well as his power--are drastically reduced?
