Mr. Obama and Mr. Romney,

Please watch this video of Detroit. Of course, it could be the Bronx, Chicago, or any other city in America run down by thugs and crack heads. Why do we care what happens in Afghanistan when we have blight like this here in America.

In fact, Mr. President, your home state of Illinois is a ceasepool in some areas. It is full of corruption from politicians to the street people. Why don't you police our ciites? Why don't you do something?

I saw where we are educating Afghans to be engineers. How nice? Maybe we could help people here in America. Oh I know that is a wild thought because we are so concerned with Afghans that they are killing our ambassadors. Never mind! Just do what you do, and we will remember in November!

We don't need the Federal government getting more involved in the cities. Better to throw out the do-nothing mayors and city councils and try to find better ones like moms and dads who are really concerned about the real problems rather than lining their own pockets or keeping their jobs come election time.

I agree, but that's where it starts...At home. We elect these jerks and they move up to higher offices and stay in politics forever. They forget about what they were elected to do and just do what they think will keep them in their plush jobs and earn them political favor.

I agree, Phil. We don't need the federal government in our cities or counties. We need responsible people locally. For instance here in Cincinnati. Do we need a street car that's only gong to go about 4 miles? Or do we need those millions put into the failing schools?

It does bother me that we use so much money overseas to bribe other countries to be our "friends" and then they do something and even if we stop the funding in protest... we go right back to sending the money over.

I'm all for helping people but why not fix things here? How much money have we sent to other countries to help them rebuild over the as 60 decades... does anyone know? And how many of these people complain about "Americans" ... do they not forget who helped them? The whole system bothers me.

When I write my senators (Boxer and Feinstein) to object to sending so much money to countries that are attacking us, they just tell me how I don't understand the "big picture" and how we have to keep supporting our "allies" overseas. Oh, yeah, the same allies that just attacked our embassies.

Those empty factories are because they sent the business over seas. Bringing them home would put a lot of paychecks back in pockets that are empty. Illinois government is extremely corrupt I'm ashamed to say. People have to get enough backbone to say Enough.

They told us, back in the day, that we were moving to an information based society and manufacturing was better done overseas in poor countries. Now, of course, the countries overseas with the factories are booming and here we are, impoverished and sinking.

There are some really bad areas in Detroit and in Flint too that could use a lot of help. Detroit has cleaned up much of the downtown area and made it pretty. Near downtown, they have torn down old buildings and put up new houses, condos, and apartments that are modern and pretty. They need to keep extending more of their efforts to the rest of the city. Flint is a war zone and the most dangerous city in the US. This past weekend, in a 20 hour period, Flint had 4 murders and 4 people wounded. Murders in Flint this year (city of about 100,000) are up to 51 just in the city, not counting the suburbs. The government has given Flint a grant to get rid of some old eyesores on the north end and to so some cleaning up there. The east side where we do volunteer work is now the most dangerous part of the city. A lot is due to gang wars and drugs, and to everyone carrying guns and shooting them off freely. I stay out of Flint at night because its very dangerous. Even in the daytime its not very safe. I think the government needs to spend more money here and less in other countries.

Thanks for the link. Practically you can see this in any city world-wide, des pite that the cars show that from a good life standard it becames ruins ... as in Lybia (where the embassador have been killed) and any country where a recent civil war took or is taking place.

Detroit is victim of many "diseases" which were initiated by the world-wide crisis itself initiated by the subprime one and financial industry deregulation which started in 1975 already.

Maybe you could try to answer the question about raising the GDP.
