It's been interesting, trying to research this. First, it seemed like Mitt' favorite book is the Bible and his favorite novel is Battlefield Earth by L. Ron Hubbard.
But I think that website has to be confused. Romney is a Mormon. Not a scientologist and not a Christian. OK, it is under discussion, is a Mormon a Christian? Romney would like us to think he reads the Bible, rather than the Book of Mormon? The Bible is more readable, true.
Further investigation- is Mitt a fan of the Twilight series? That makes sense on one level, because Stephanie Meyer is a fellow Mormon. Though the book is about a teen girl in love with a vampire, and it seems odd reading for a 64 year old guy. But I have read book one, in the interest of full disclosure. Could not bring myself to read book 2 since I am not a teen girl and therefore had no reason to read any more of it.
Actually Mitt does read serious books, like "Decision Points" by GW Bush. Just kidding- that's not a serious book, but Mitt did read it. Then there was "Guns, Germs, and Steel" by Jared Diamond, and "The Wealth and Poverty of Nations" by David Landes, except that Mitt does not seem to have really understood those books. I wish that Mitt would read "Collapse" by Jared Diamond, which explains why environmental concerns and sustainability deserve a place at the table in human politics, but of course Mitt would not be interested in THAT topic, since he seems to have bought the Republican nonsense about environmentalism being a hoax.
I find myself thinking of Mitt as a lightweight. Is that bad? after all, FDR was described as a second rate mind but a first class temperament, right? problem is, I don't like Mitt's temperament either.
